Landscape Design in Collingwood, ON
We design outdoor spaces that work for how you live, not just how they look in photos.
Design That Starts With Your Yard
Every property in Collingwood is different. Slope, soil, sun exposure, drainage - they all matter. We measure everything, test your soil, and figure out what'll actually thrive before we sketch a single line. You're not getting a cookie-cutter plan we used on three other houses.
We sit down with you first. What do you want? A low-maintenance front yard? A backyard where the kids can play and you can entertain? Maybe you're tired of fighting that shady corner or dealing with runoff every spring. We design around real problems and real goals, not trends that'll look dated in two years.
Once we know your space and your priorities, we put together a plan. You'll see layouts, plant selections, hardscape options - everything laid out so you can make decisions before a shovel hits the ground. We work with clients in Blue Mountain and Thornbury too, so we know how microclimates and soil conditions shift around the area.
Plans You Can Actually Use
A landscape design isn't just a pretty drawing. It's a roadmap. We give you scaled layouts, plant lists with mature sizes, material specs, and a phased plan if you want to tackle it in stages. You can hand it to any contractor - or use it yourself if you're the DIY type.
We design for four-season interest because this is Ontario. That means thinking about what blooms when, what holds structure in winter, and how your yard transitions through the year. We also factor in maintenance. If you don't want to spend every weekend pruning and deadheading, we'll pick plants that don't demand it.
Hardscaping gets planned at the same time as planting. Patios, walkways, retaining walls - they're part of the whole picture, not an afterthought. If you're thinking about adding those features down the line, we can coordinate with Hardscape Installation so everything ties together visually.
From Concept to Installation
Design is step one. Once you approve the plan, we can handle and or you can take the design elsewhere. No pressure either way. Some clients want us to see it through, others just need the blueprint.
If we do the install, nothing gets improvised. We follow the plan we agreed on. Plant spacing, grading, soil amendments - it all happens the way we drew it. You'll know the timeline, the cost, and what to expect before we start.
After everything's in, we offer if you want help keeping it looking right. Or we can just walk you through care instructions and let you take it from there. The design works either way.
What Goes Into a Design
We start with a site visit. We'll walk your property, take measurements, note drainage issues, check sun patterns, and talk through what's working and what isn't. If you've got photos of yards you like (or hate), bring them. It helps.
Then we draft. You'll get a scaled layout showing planting beds, hardscape, lawn areas, and any structural elements. We'll include a plant palette with names, quantities, and notes on bloom time and mature size. If grading or drainage work is needed, that's in there too.
Revisions are part of the process. You'll review the first draft, we'll adjust, and we'll keep refining until it's right. Most designs go through two or three rounds. We don't rush it.
Serving Collingwood and Surrounding Areas
We're based in Collingwood and we design for properties throughout the area. Waterfront lots, hillside yards, small town gardens - we've done them all. Soil and climate vary more than people think, even within a few kilometres, so local knowledge matters.
We also work in Wasaga Beach, Clearview, and other nearby communities. If you're outside Collingwood, just ask. We'll let you know if we can help or point you toward someone who can.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a landscape design cost?
It depends on property size and complexity. A simple front yard design might be $500-$1,200. Larger properties or designs with grading, drainage, and detailed hardscape plans can run $2,000-$5,000+. We'll give you a quote after the initial site visit so there's no guessing.
Do I have to use you for installation if you do the design?
Nope. You own the design. You can hire us for installation, use another contractor, or do it yourself. We're happy to answer questions during install no matter who's doing the work, but there's no obligation to use our crew.
How long does the design process take?
Usually two to four weeks from site visit to final plan. That includes drafting time and a couple rounds of revisions. If you need it faster, let us know - we can sometimes expedite. If you want to sit on it and think things over, that's fine too.
